The Moon and Mercury

It takes about  27 days  for  the moon to  orbit  the  earth. The moon looks bright, but it actually a dark and rocky place. It looks bright only when the sun ‘s light reflects, or bounces off of it.

Mercury  does not have a moon. Mercury is hard to see from earth because its too               close  to the sun. Mercury is only a little  bigger than earth’s moon.

Uranus- my favorite planet!

Uranus

My favorite planet is Uranus.  Here are some delightful facts that I learned about Uranus.

Uranus is the third largest planet in the solar system.  It is the coldest of the all the planets in the solar system.  It takes Uranus 84 years  to complete one orbit around the sun!  Uranus appears to be blue in color due to the amount of methane gas in its atmosphere.  Uranus is tipped onto its side.  Scientists think that a long time ago some huge space object, the size of a planet may have crashed into Uranus.  That crash caused Uranus to tip.

Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter has at least 63 moons!  Four of Jupiter’s largest moons are called Galilean moons because they were discovered by Galileo Galilei.  Jupiter is a gas planet made of hydrogen and helium.
